As Marylanders continue to head to their holiday destinations, Amtrak was hit with a slew of delays and cancellations Monday.

Amtrak passengers faced delays of 30 to 60 minutes Sunday night because of power line issues along the Northeast Corridor, which provides service between Washington, D.C., and Boston, officials said.

Amtrak suspended trains along the Northeast Corridor due to downed overhead wires, just days before the Christmas holiday.

Amtrak warned riders Monday about “significant delays” throughout the Northeast, including between Penn Station and Philadelphia, Washington DC and Boston.

Amtrak's northeast service is delayed due to a signal issue while airports around the country experienced major delays due to inclement weather over the weekend.
