Add a dash of purple colouring to the remaining buttercream and mix until you have the desired colour. Fit the piping bag with the star nozzle and pipe swirls on the ‘forehead’ of a cupcake.
Fill it with the white buttercream. Pipe a swirl on top of the cupcake so it comes out with a stripy candy cane design. You can finish with a sprinkling of crushed candy canes if you like.
