An investigation is underway after a decomposing body was found near a cliffside in Rancho Palos Verdes over the weekend. Deputies were called to the cliffs in the 31000 block of Palos Verdes Drive on Saturday afternoon,

Sheriff’s deputies with the Lomita station responded around 12:56 p.m. to the 31000 block of Palos Verdes Drive South after a hiker saw the person from the cliff and called authorities, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Investigators believe the person fell down the cliff from Dina’s Viewpoint and that they had been dead for quite a while based on the body’s severe decomposition.

Investigators say that the body is not related to the two missing boaters who went missing last week when their boast capsized off the coast of Rancho Palos Verdes.
