2021年8月25日 · Nowadays placing the “A” in front of somebody’s name is mostly a Chinese southern thing, mostly in Cantonese families. The Er Lang I’m assuming you meant 二郎, the Er just means number 2. If you’re the third son in the family they’ll call you San Lang 三郎 etc.

2022年9月19日 · Chinese names are kinda different in this regard compared to Western names. Sure you have your 刚s and 伟s but there's a strong desire for a lot of people to have a unique name. I think it's a universal desire and since Chinese family names are kinda concentrated you have to vary on the given name side.
