Although I think reading is important there is more to learn than just reading. You can do theory, chord charts, timing, grooves, improv etc.

2012年5月9日 · Well, if by, "Easy", you mean a song not having that many notes, or not that many fast runs, technically you might be somewhat correct, BUT when you consider how the notes are to be applied - the groove, the bounce, the emotion, how the notes link with the drums - then the term, "Not as easy as it seems", comes to mind.

Now I hardly do much but a flurry of notes coming out of the bass, people think you are good etc(ha!). Try figuring out a new simple slap bass part each week or each day etc from Youtube.

We know most Nirvana songs, those are almost always fun for both, and we’ve learned some others like the few Black Keys songs that have bass on them, some Stooges, stuff like that. Look into earlier Death/Grind (early 90s) before the technical guys took over everything. The bottom line is that it isn't an easy style no matter how you cut it; that's the point.
