Purple tree collards are a fantastic but rare perennial vegetable. With a nice mild flavor, and reaching heights over 6 feet (1.8 meters), these plants can provide you with a year-round abundance of greens for your family and community.

These blue-green leaves take on a purple coloration especially in cool weather, and are tender, sweet and nutty for fresh or cooked dishes. This especially tasty and vigorous variety will yield lots of fresh greens for years and is hardy to about 20°F or zones 7-10.

Purple tree collards are a delicious perennial collard green hardy to 25 F (-4 C), possibly even down to the high teens. They are called ‘tree’ collards because they can easily get to eight or even ten feet tall. They have a wonderful nutty flavor and produce all year long.
