2007年11月8日 · Can anyone give me precise details of a standard British gas mask bag (SBR). I would like to know the differences between the WW1 issues and the early WW2 types. I have a bag with an unclear date and markings, it certainly looks like a WW1 issue but I am not sure. If anyone has pictures of an original bag and precise details of fittings, etc.

2014年3月30日 · One of the most noteworthy gas masks used during WWI was the British Small Box Respirator or SBR designed in 1916. It was probably the most reliable and heavily used gas mask of the war. The mask was made of thinly rubberized canvas with a canvas-covered rubber hose connecting the mask to a canister, which was all contained in a square bag.

2024年4月26日 · I am a fairly serious WW1 gas collector. This is a display from 2006, I included a replica French pad mask as I have no 1915 pad masks from any nation. On the table are the PH & PHG. Regards the books, obviously, I am hoping that the authors produce a companion volume(s) on British, French, Russian, USA, and other gas masks of the Great War.

2009年8月3日 · There is no asbestos to be found in any WW1 German gas masks. As the type of mask you're getting is the leather variant, which replaced the earlier rubberized cloth mask in June 1917, the filter is likely the 11-C-11 version introduced in May 1917.

Looking back over a copy of British Military Respirators & Anti-Gas Equipment of the Two World Wars by Thomas Mayer-Maguire & Brian Baker, it does state that initially four sizes were introduced - 1-4, but in time, sizes 0 & 5 followed, for those with "abnormally large or small heads".
