Apparently shaking your head no is an evolutionary thing. Which starts with the child refusing to eat and turning their heads from side to side, to prevent the parent from feeding them. Which has evolved over the millennia we have existed into being associated with saying no.

2024年2月11日 · The literal definitely of a nod is an up and down motion of the head. Like think, nodding off when you get sleepy. You dip your head down and then back up again. I don't get why anyone is calling these headshakes 'nods'. You can't just truncate 'A back and forth gesture of the head in agreement' into 'nod'. It just doesn't work!
