We eats what mom eats. These coastal brown bears are feeding on goose tongue- also known as sea plantain (Plantago maritima). In addition to the coastal sedge, this nutritious plant is a large part of these bear’s diet. At 5 months old, these cubs are eating solids as well as nursing every 4 hours or so. Their mother’s nutritional needs are incredibly high considering that she must provide for her cubs and pack on enough pounds to carry all 4 of them through their next hibernation. #mothernature
